Position Overview: We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team in the town of West Point, Virginia. In this role, you'll provide both direct and indirect services to students with diverse needs, from birth to 21 years old, as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing students' abilities to thrive in their educational journeys. Key Responsibilities: 1) Comprehensive Assessments: -Conduct thorough evaluations to identify students' needs for occupational therapy services. - Assess fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration, self-care capabilities, and daily living activities. 2) Personalized Intervention: - Develop and implement individualized therapy programs tailored to each student's unique needs and IEP goals. - Deliver direct therapy services using evidence-based practices to foster student development. - Continuously monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions to ensure optimal outcomes. 3) Collaborative Engagement: - Work closely with educators, parents, and other professionals to integrate therapy goals within the classroom and home environments. -Provide training and resources to school staff and families to support and enhance students' occupational performance. - Actively participate in IEP meetings, contributing valuable insights to the development of comprehensive educational plans. 4) Professional Compliance: - Maintain accurate and timely records of evaluations, interventions, and progress notes. - Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing occupational therapy services in educational settings. Qualifications: - Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. - Current Occupational Therapist license in the state of Virginia. - Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued. In-depth understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the IEP process. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
