Dr. Jill Maglio, is an occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience using circus as an educational, therapeutic, and community-building tool. She has collaborated with service recipients and governmental and non-governmental organizations to improve occupational participation in various communities. She has trained over 1000 professionals in Australia, Europe, Asia, Central America, and the USA. Jill has collected evidence, tested methods, and created programs for political and environmental refugees underpinned by occupational science and social circus research. Jill has been a partner of the New York Board of Education for over 10 years, providing occupational therapy services in K-12 schools. In 2024, Jill was awarded a PhD from Latrobe University for her contributions to the occupational therapy profession, examining the similarities and differences in how occupational therapists utilize circus in their practice areas to create change in individual, community, and social-political contexts.
