One thing we probably do not talk about enough in therapy and special education is how often professionals are expected to know the answer immediately.

An SLP sees something unusual during a session. An OT is trying to figure out why a strategy that normally works suddenly does not. A PT encounters a student whose needs do not quite fit the textbook example. A special education teacher is wondering whether what they are seeing is communication, behavior, sensory, motor, or somehow all four before lunch.

And sometimes the most professional answer is simply: “I’m not sure. I want another perspective.”

Experience has taught me that some of the best professional learning does not come from another spreadsheet, webinar, or 87-slide training deck. Sometimes it comes from asking another professional, “Have you ever seen this before?”

That is one reason professional communities matter. We should have places where an SLP can ask an OT a question, a teacher can learn from a therapist, or someone can ask something anonymously without worrying that the question sounds too basic.

So here is today’s Liricare community question:

What is one question you have right now that you wish you could ask a room full of experienced SLPs, OTs, PTs, educators, or other special-needs professionals?

    Ask it.

There is a good chance someone else has been wondering the exact same thing but was waiting for somebody else to go first.
